Nice Work If You Can Get It charmingly recreates the zesty flavor of 1920s Broadway romantic musicals.  With an award-winning book by playwright Joe DiPietro (based on material by P. G. Wodehouse and Guy Bolton), the show is a screwball farce peppered with songs from legendary songwriting duo Ira & George Gershwin.

Its success, however, came only after an unusually lengthy gestation period.  The genesis of the production goes back to 2001, when the musical was performed—under the title They All Laughed—at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut.  This early version of the show failed to take off, and its creators would have to wait until 2007 before another attempt was made to stage the material, this time titled Heaven on Earth, with Harry Connick, Jr. in the lead.  But the production fell apart before its premiere.

The third time proved to be the charm:  Nice Work If You Can Get It finally arrived on Broadway in 2012, with Matthew Broderick in the lead role of Jimmy Winter.  The musical would go on to earn ten Tony Award nominations, winning for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical (Michael McGrath) and Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical (Judy Kaye).  An original Broadway cast recording has been released.  To attend this entertaining musical, you can purchase Nice Work If You Can Get It tickets right here.
